Maggie Lawrie

Community Trust Manager

I joined the Trust in December 2019 and feel privileged to be able to work for such a progressive charity which has so much potential to grow and achieve more.  I have always been a rugby fan so to have the chance to help others develop themselves through rugby in my local area was a great opportunity.  I love seeing the enjoyment our participants, coaches and volunteers get supporting each other and helping people fulfil their potential.  The role is allowing me to develop my knowledge and skills both in areas I have experience of working in and areas which are new to me.  I am also being given the opportunity to gain qualifications too.

Since graduating from University in 2005 with a BSc Hons in Sport and Recreation Management I have held various roles within the sports industry, allowing me to draw on several years of experience to help the Trust grow further.  The areas which I have worked have given me experience in project management, programme management, team management (with national sports teams), PR, media and events management.  These positions have been held with The British Ski and Snowboard Federation, Scottish Rugby and Scottish Squash and Racketball.  In 2014 I set up a social enterprise (Tri Angus Ltd) to deliver triathlon events in Angus and now deliver two sell out events each year which attract over 700 participants not only from Scotland but around the world.
