Vice Chair Vacancy

Vice Chair – Strathmore Community Rugby Trust

Founded in June 2017 and based in Forfar, Angus, the purpose of Strathmore Community Rugby Trust is the advancement of participation in rugby union and rugby league. We achieve this through our community rugby projects which include a Rugby Academy for secondary school pupils, Walking Rugby for the less able, an inclusive rugby team for adults with learning disabilities and Autism-Friendly Rugby for primary age children with Autism. Each project is designed to meet our vision of ‘Developing People Through Rugby’.

Following the retiral of an existing Trustee, we are now seeking interest from people for the newly created role of Vice Chair. This position has been created to improve the sustainability of the organisation following a period of significant growth.

Skills/Experience Desired

  • Experience of operating at director or board level
  • Experience of Marketing and/or PR
  • Experience of taking an organisation to the next level
  • Understanding of the principles of corporate governance
  • Proven leadership experience

While knowledge of sport is an advantage, we are committed to selecting trustees based on their ability to do the job for which they are being recruited. We encourage applications from all sectors of the community.

Commitment Required & Remuneration

Trustees generally meet quarterly.  The Vice Chair would also be expected to develop and lead sub-committees and to support fundraising events.  The role involves working with the Chair to provide oversight and support to the employed staff, assisting with strategic planning, ensuring robust governance is in place and acting as an ambassador for the Trust.  Board members are expected to make a minimum three-year commitment to this role.

While this is a voluntary role reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
