I became a Trustee in May 2018. As the Trust operates throughout the Strathmore valley, they were looking for a representative from Brechin Rugby Club to join as a Trustee. I was asked by Brechin Rugby Club to take on this role.
My involvement with the Trust has been a real eye-opener in terms of what can be achieved through rugby. I have always enjoyed watching people play our sport I have enjoyed learning and seeing what people can achieve through rugby with the right support and guidance. I feel I still have a lot to learn though, but I like that. The Trust has helped me by increasing my knowledge of the opportunities available within the sport, and given me a better understanding of working with those with additional needs and how we can help them achieve their goals.
I have been involved with Brechin Rugby Club for around 15 years and I have developed a lot of knowledge about what it takes to run a rugby club. I have held various positions within the club including Chair, Treasurer and coach, as well as other community organisations such as Brechin Bravo and Brechin Swimming Club. I also have experience of organising large-scale events. Over the years I have worked with a large number of groups and organisations locally and with that comes a good network of contacts.
